What people have to say about Portland Cement Zambia

Let us no more engage ourselves in long discussions about the glorious past of Portland Cement Zambia and its pathetic condition under the rule of the Ventriglia family. Few locals of Ndola took the initiative of going out and asking others about their opinion on the massacre that is currently taking place in the Portland Cement Zambia. The results revealed a sad scenario!

Martina, wife of a former worker in Portland Cement Zambia says, “I was very happy for Kelvin (worker at PCZ) has he was able to find a job at the nearby factory. Every day when he used to come back, he would be tired but still managed to make sure that everyone was feed properly and was planning to shift to a new house in the next few months. But all of a sudden, he came to know that the management had changed and within months he was removed from the factory. Currently, he works in a nearby district at a lower pay and comes to visit us once a month. The happiness that we had found was short lived.”

Another person, who wishes to be anonymous says, “I was among the few workers who were dismissed in the first lot. It is really heart breaking to go to your job and then learn that they have already planned to have you removed from the job and that too on a reason which is not related to my performance or conduct. They simply said that they didn’t have enough work for us. I didn’t know how to react done and even if I would have wanted to say something, it would have been an exercise in futility.”

The above statements clearly indicate that the people of Ndola has suffered a lot since the plant has been shut down and till date there are families who have suffered from the impact.
