Zambian High Court Fails To Deliver Justice, Dr. Rajan Mahtani Moves To Higher Court

Once against, the law and justice system of Zambia failed to deliver the right judgement. This case pertains to one Portland Cement Zambia, noted cement-manufacturing factory in Zambia. The factory legally belongs to Dr. Rajan Mahtani, celebrated and renowned businessmen with national and international establishments. He is behind some of Zambian’s top companies including Mahtani Group of Industries and Finsbury Investments. Even so, he is often targeted by conspirators who are either parties jealous of him or trying to extort financial gains. Despite these challenges, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has never sought help from unethical practices or illegal methods. As such, he is still fighting the legal battle for the ownership of Portland Cement Zambia, ten years after it was registered at Lusaka High Court.

Dr. Rajan MahtaniDuring the long-running trial of the case, Dr. Mahtani and his lawyers have submitted numerous evidences and documents that have successfully proved his legal ownership over the factory. Some of these evidences were signed shareholder’s document, financial statements proving his investments of more than USD 12 million in the factory and testimonials from important members associated with the factory. He has also submitted an independent audit report conducted on the factory by an external auditor. This independent audit report clearly states that the factory was formed as a joint venture and Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the sole joint venture owner of the factory. These evidences were more than enough to prove legal ownership of Dr. Rajan Mahtani over the factory.

However, the final verdict which was announced a few weeks earlier left everyone in a shocking mode. As per the final announcement, the judge gave the verdict against Dr. Mahtani and against his solid claims. It was a clear case of misdirected judgment. However, Dr. Mahtani is not lost his patience and has now approached the higher court of appeal to make a case against this misdirected judgment at the Lusaka High Court.
