Decision From The Zambian President Receives Support From Dr. Mahtani.

Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, Chairman and founder of the Prison Fellowship Zambia recently supported the decision from the Zambian President which was to abolish the law of the death penalty. President Hakainde Hichilema, on the occasion of Africa Day, announced that he plans to abolish the death penalty entirely in the Zambian nation. This announcement received significant positive support from across Zambia and among them was Dr.RajanLekhraj Mahtani. While praising the decision made by the Zambian President, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani also stated that his institution Prison Fellowship Zambia will provide full regulatory and legal support to ensure that the announcement made by the Zambian President becomes a reality.

Prison Fellowship Zambia was established more than 37 years ago by Dr. Mahtani. The reason for the establishment of this institution was to transform the prisoners of Zambia by bringing them closer to god, which in turn was achieved by bringing the learnings and gospel of the Almighty Jesus Christ to the ex-prisoners, prisoners & their families in Zambia. Apart from its primary goal, the institution also focuses on ensuring that the prisoners are not devoid of fundamental human rights and basic human dignity.

Dr. Rajan Mahtani added his voice to the announcement made by the Zambian President by stating that the killing of convicts would not provide any solution to the problems faced by the Zambian law and government. As such, Dr. Rajan Mahtani owned Prison Fellowship has not only rallied behind this by the President, it has also pledged legal and regulatory support towards ensuring that the announcement made by the Zambian President becomes a reality. There is a huge difference between making such an announcement and ensuring it transforms into tangible legal laws and reforms. The process will require significant legal reforms, support from the public and private entities, and overcoming resistance from established legal parties. To achieve this, Prison Fellowship will provide full support towards the decision made by the Zambian President.
