After several years of considerable business success as well as philanthropic and charitable contributions made by noted businessperson Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, they were recognised at an international level. Dr. Rajan Mahtani is one of the most successful businesspeople in Zambia. He is known for several top companies in Zambia. Two of his most successful entities are Mahtani Group of Companies and Finsbury Investments. His company Mahtani Group had a humble beginning and from there, it transformed itself into one of the top conglomerates in Africa. The company expanded to nearby nations such as South Africa, Malawi as well as several international locations. The company further expanded to several sectors including insurance, agriculture, mining, energy, real estate, finance, and several others. Across all these sectors, Dr. Rajan Mahtani not only worked towards improving the industry standards, but also contributed towards the development of the entire society and communities by providing employment and livelihood opportunities as well as contributing towards protecting and improving the local environment. In a similar manner, his company Finsbury Investments is known to provide financial support and growth opportunities for several small & medium enterprises across Zambia.
The philanthropic and charitable contributions by Dr. Rajan Mahtani have rarely made any headlines all these years. Dr. Mahtani is the owner of the Prison Fellowship Zambia (PFZ), an institution affiliated by the Prison Fellowship International (PFI), Washington. The objective of this project is to provide transparent criminal justice and welfare opportunities for the inmates, ex-inmates as well as their families in Zambia. In a similar manner, Dr. Mahtani established the Stephen Malama award a few years back. This is an educational award that comes with a scholarship of significant amount. It is given to the top law candidate who have also qualified for the bar. Through this scholarship, the top students get opportunity to further their career. These contributions by Dr. Rajan Mahtani were finally recognised at an international level and Dr. Mahtani was conferred with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021.
