The Forbes-FIN philanthropy and leadership roundtable conference for the year 2021 was recently completed. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, a noted businessman and philanthropist from Zambia, was invited to this event as an honorary speaker. He spoke about the significance of leadership in healthcare, especially in these challenging pandemic times when the significance of healthcare and healthcare workers is realized by everyone.
A major reason for the significant anticipation of the Forbes-FIN philanthropy and leadership awards was the inclusion of the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards ceremony. Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards are among the most honored and respected corporate and leadership awards across the entire Africa. The awards are given to the leading lights in the field of business and philanthropy. During the award ceremony, Dr. Rajan Mahtani was awarded the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award in 2021 for his contributions towards redefining the banking sector of Zambia. Dr. Rajan Mahtani was presented with this award for his significant philanthropic and charitable contributions to the Zambian nation and its people.
Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is the owner of several successful companies across Zambia and Africa. Some of these companies are Mahtani Group and Finsbury Investments. He is the present Group Chairman of Mahtani Group which was founded in the year 1981. Since its establishment, the company has transformed itself into one of the top conglomerates expanding across Zambia, Malawi, South Africa as well as several other nations. Similarly, the company has expanded to several sectors such as insurance, finance, mining, agriculture, real estate, and many more. Across all these sectors, Dr. Mahtani has worked towards developing the sector with numerous employment opportunities, livelihood opportunities as well as overall upliftment of the communities. Similarly, Dr. Mahtani was applauded for his philanthropic achievements such as Prison Fellowship Zambia and Stephen Malama award and scholarship for top law graduates in Zambia. All these culminated in his Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award which he accepted humbly.
