Money launderers on the loose in Zambia, as per latest FIC reports

The Cement factory and the case associated with it are known to all. Dr. Rajan Mahtani has claimed to be the legal owner of the factory. To prove his claim, he has also submitted numerous documents, evidences and testimonials of significant worth. The trial for the Portland Cement Zambia has been going on for almost ten years and during this long-stretched period, numerous changes have been seen. The judges handling the case have been transferred numerous times, majorly due to the pending nature of the case. Other times parties were not available or the evidences were not present during the trial period. While all these factors resulted in the delay of the judgment, the factory has been suffering greatly. As a result of a lack of proper leadership, the factory production has reduced significantly and it is no longer a noted and high producer of cement.

The latest judge overseeing the case made a positive announcement few months back when it was announced that the case hearing is closed and the final judgment will be made based on the evidences, documents and testimonials shared by both parties. This was positive news for Dr. Mahtani and his team and it was known that the evidences shared by him were much stronger and relevant than the others. However, the final verdict which was announced few weeks earlier was a surprising phenomenon, and not in a good way. The justice, Mr. Nkonde, gave the verdict against Dr. Rajan Mahtani’s claims. This expected judgment by the judge was a clear indication of misdirected judgment. It was understood that the judge did not consider any of the evidences shared by Dr. Mahtani and his teams, even though these were essential for the case.

Dr. Mahtani is not considering this high court judgment as the final destination for the factory and has launched an appeal to the higher court of appeal against this judgmengt.
